The New England Aquarium’s impact goes far beyond the walls at Central Wharf and its main building. Researchers, scientists, and animal caregivers at the Aquarium are committed to protecting the planet by continually advancing their conservation efforts. Two weeks ago, the Aquarium staff and volunteers successfully released 4 loggerhead sea turtles back into the wild. Aquarium personnel treated the turtles for a variety of life-threatening medical conditions including hypothermia, pneumonia, and bone fractures. After a series of physical examinations were conducted, the loggerheads were released back into the waters off Cape Cod. The New England Aquarium has been helping rescue, rehabilitate, release, and research endangered and threatened sea turtles for over 30 years!  Over the course of this season, the Aquarium has already rescued over 569 sea turtles!

I’m always inspired and energized hearing about the work they are doing, and what member and donor support helps to make possible (Sarah Backenstoe, S&W Account Executive).
