USI works alongside public housing authorities, developers, and local leaders to support communities experiencing significant neighborhood change, ensuring that resident stability, opportunity, and voice remain central throughout the process. Through its place-based model, the organization helps neighborhoods undergoing change translate investment into meaningful outcomes for families, including housing stability, education, workforce pathways, and long-term economic mobility.

At the heart of USI work is deep community partnership. By embedding locally, aligning cross-sector stakeholders, and building durable systems of support, the organization helps ensure that redevelopment strengthens communities rather than displacing them.
