Susan Sharer

Senior Consultant

Susan Sharer is a seasoned fundraising leader with more than two decades of service to organizations across the sector. Most recently, Susan served for seven years as the Vice President of Development of Prospect Park Alliance, the non-profit that sustains, restores and advances Prospect Park. She oversaw a team of six raising $5 million annually and led the Campaign for Prospect Park, a $100 million comprehensive fundraising campaign. Included in the $92 million raised under Susan’s leadership over five years was a $10 million private gift to the endowment.

Susan joined the Alliance in November of 2013 as the Director of Individual Giving. Following a leadership transition, she was named Assistant Vice President of Development in November 2014 before becoming Vice President in 2018. Her work prior to coming to the Alliance included serving as the Director of Special Events at the YMCA of Greater New York, raising in excess of $2 million through the organization’s fundraising events, and Director of Individual Giving at The Film Society of Lincoln Center.  In spring 2018, Susan received a Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia Business School after participating in their Senior Leaders Program for NonProfit Professionals. She was Program Co-Chair for the Association of Fundraising Professionals-NYC Chapter’s Fundraising Day in New York in 2023 and 2024. Susan is a member of the Board of Managers for the Park Slope Armory/Prospect Park Y in Brooklyn. She has a BA in Psychology from Vassar College and serves as her Class Fund Chair.
