As Vice President at S&W, JA contributes significantly to advancing the firm’s strategic direction—guiding client engagements, developing talent, and ensuring each partnership is thoughtful, streamlined, and results-focused.
In his role at S&W, JA leads the firm’s growth in New York and is a trusted advisor to nonprofits across the country. He partners with senior leadership to strengthen philanthropic capacity, build high-performing development teams, and deliver transformational fundraising and strategic results.
Background
Over the course of his career, JA has served in a variety of interim executive and senior leadership roles, including Chief Development Officer and Chief Executive Officer, where he has guided teams through change while elevating fundraising and keeping mission delivery on track. His practical, data-informed approach has helped clients—from higher education to human services—build sustainable development programs and achieve meaningful growth.
Before consulting independently JA held senior positions with Orr Group, the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, and Scouting America. His leadership has contributed to campaigns and programs that have raised tens of millions of dollars, expanded organizational capacity, and deepened community engagement.
JA is known for his calm, steady presence, thoughtful insights, and ability to bring clarity and confidence to complex challenges. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from SUNY Plattsburgh and lives in Wappingers Falls, New York.
