Share Food Program is dedicated to leading the fight against food insecurity in the Philadelphia region. By providing quality food to a broad network of community organizations and school districts, Share ensures that individuals and families have access to nutritious food while also engaging in education and advocacy efforts to promote sustainable solutions to hunger. Share operates out of a 130,000-square-foot warehouse headquarters in Philadelphia, and will open warehouses in Delaware and Montgomery counties in 2025 to expand their reach and services.
Highlights
Capital Campaign Leadership
S&W partnered with Share to help execute their $35 million capital campaign to support the renovation of Share’s main warehouse and their growing operations.
Comprehensive Development Planning
We conducted an assessment of the development program and created a growth plan to sustainably strengthen Share’s development results, leveraging existing resources and recommending strategic investments.
Development Staffing & Consulting
S&W worked closely with Share’s team to craft and implement a plan for major gifts and annual fund campaigns, providing ongoing counsel to drive donor engagement and secure gifts across various levels.
The Challenge
With the $35 million capital campaign underway and nearing completion, Share Food Program faced the challenge of securing the remaining funds while also strengthening their overall development infrastructure. S&W conducted a Development Assessment and created an organizational plan for a comprehensive fundraising program that included the addition of new Development team positions – a Director of Corporate Partnerships, Manager of Development Operations, and Donor Relations Manager. Share also sought to refine its annual giving programs to ensure long-term financial sustainability and partnered with S&W to focus on direct marketing efforts.
The Solution
S&W partnered with Share Food Program to address both their immediate staffing needs and long-term fundraising goals. S&W provided StaffSolutions – advising Share on the integration of new key roles within the development department. This included guidance on the roles of the Director of Corporate Partnerships, Donor Relations Manager, and Development Operations Manager, ensuring they were positioned to effectively manage the ongoing fundraising efforts.
Additionally, S&W provided high-level counsel on campaign strategy, working directly with Share’s leadership team to develop and implement prospect strategies, and help manage the activity of the Campaign Committee. S&W also supported the development of materials for donor outreach and maintained campaign tracking documents. Together, these efforts allowed Share to not only strengthen its leadership and team capacity but also make critical strides in meeting their fundraising goals.
By bolstering Share’s internal team and providing strategic guidance, Schultz & Williams helped Share Food Program expand its fundraising capacity and effectively manage its growing development needs during a critical period of expansion.
