Fundraising Technology & innovation
At Schultz & Williams (S&W), we are dedicated to helping our clients do more for their missions. Increasingly, that means not just bringing them the best practices in fundraising and strategy, but developing the next practices that will redefine what is possible. We are making meaningful investments in technology, analytics, and new tools that can make our work not just more efficient, but more effective. Two examples are already delivering significant value for clients:
PhilanthropyIQ analyzes a nonprofit’s full donor file to identify fundraising health and opportunity, from major and principal gift potential to retention, upgrades, lapsed donors, and pipeline strength. It combines giving behavior with wealth, capacity, and affinity data to help organizations understand where their greatest opportunities lie and make better decisions about where to focus.
Insight+, developed by our colleagues at Lautman Maska Neill & Company, provides sophisticated analytics for direct response and integrated marketing programs, helping clients identify opportunities for growth, improve retention, and increase long-term donor value. Insight+ gives nonprofit leaders greater visibility into campaign performance as well as opportunities to adjust strategy as results come in.
We are also developing and piloting several additional tools designed around questions nonprofit leaders and fundraisers face every day:
- How do we compare to our peers? Our Landscape Benchmark Tool uses public financial and fundraising data to benchmark an organization against its peers across nine dimensions of financial health.
- Which donors are actually ready for an ask? Our Ask Readiness Scorecard evaluates major gift prospects across six dimensions, creating a consistent measure of readiness, identifying what may be holding an ask back, and helping forecast portfolio potential.
- How can we better prepare for donor conversations? Our Donor Meeting Prep Builder brings together pipeline data, wealth screening, and existing donor intelligence to create standardized prospect profiles, meeting briefs, and recommended next moves.
- Where are we leaving fundraising opportunities on the table? Our Communications Assessment evaluates online giving experiences against 48 research-backed best practices and produces a prioritized roadmap for improvement.
- What is the real return on investing in our fundraising team? Our Development Team ROI Calculator models different staffing and revenue scenarios over three years, helping leaders understand the potential financial impact of investing in fundraising capacity.
These tools are not intended to replace experience, judgment, or creativity. Our greatest resource remains the people on our team and the real-world nonprofit leadership experience they bring to our clients every day. Our opportunity is to equip that talent with better information and better tools so we can help organizations make better decisions and achieve greater impact.
